      Comprehensive characterizations of aerosols and trace gases were carried out onboard the US Department of Energy Gulfstream-1 (G-1) research aircraft and at several surface sites, during the Observations and Modelling of the Green Ocean Amazon (GoAmazon/5) experiment near Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil (° S, ° W), in the central Amazon. Comprehensive characterizations of aerosols and trace gases were carried out onboard the US Department of Energy Gulfstream-1 (G-1) research aircraft and at several surface sites, during the Observations and Modelling of the Green Ocean Amazon (GoAmazon/5) experiment near Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil (° S, ° W), in the central Amazon.

    Aerosol characteristics and particle production in the upper troposphere over the Amazon Basin inferring trace gas concentrations from airborne UV/visible limb spectroscopy under all skies using the scaling method for CCN aerosol concentrations determining the height of warm rain and ice initiation in convective clouds over the Amazon. The Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA) was an intensive scientific investigation of the tropical rainforest of Brazil and portions of adjacent countries. LBA used intensive remote-sensing techniques and ground-based experiments to investigate the atmosphere-biosphere-hydrosphere dynamics of this large tropical region.
